see that beautiful building lit up to the left of the rainbow one? that’s where i worked up until about 4 months ago. present for all the construction and not a single part of the payoff. lame-o.
This is a picture of Bryan Blanks, moments after he flash mobbed his Man of Honor speech at my wedding. He is my best friend and tomorrow is his birthday. We’ve come a long way to get to that photo, starting about 13 years ago. He showed up at my locker one day in high school and never really left. We became fast friends, he bought me a leopard print cd holder for my car, and from then on could be seen dancing down the hallways hand-in-hand, singing the Wal-Mart rollback song. I never said we were normal. I love Blanks because he has great stories like how his step-dad’s wild chickens took down his mom in the garage. I love Blanks because we’re never allowed to be on the same team while playing Catchphrase due to the number of inside jokes we share. I love Blanks because my extended family asks where he is if he isn’t present for a holiday. I love Blanks because no one can strike fear into a waiter’s heart like he can. I love Blanks because he went to 5 different schools 8 times until realizing he needed to be at Monmouth with me. I love Blanks because we share the same dark humor in things like award show in memoriams. I love Blanks because he remembers the original choreography to a dance we made up from A Goofy Movie and decided it’d make the perfect speech at my wedding (it did, btw).
So Bryan, allow me to wish you a happy birthday by quoting a voicemail I received from you on mine 4 years ago. “Welp, we’re family. We’re probably going to be buried together.” Happiest of happy birthdays!
nerdz 4 life.
